Kate O’Connell is the founder/owner of KDESIGN Creative which specializes in building brand identities and providing design-related services, including graphic design, interior design, event creative, and fine arts. Kate has 20 years of experience in graphic design and brand identity development for companies in various industries. 

In addition to owning and operating KDESIGN Creative, Kate is the Director of Brand Management at Shawmut Design and Construction in Boston where she oversees and manages the brand strategy, as well as leads the team that drives the design quality and consistency of Shawmut’s brand. Prior to this role, Kate was the Corporate Design Director for Suffolk, one of the largest and most innovative building construction management firms in the country.  Prior to her role at Suffolk, Kate was the Senior Designer at bbi Marketing, a sports marketing firm based in Rockland, Massachusetts, and she served as Junior Graphic Designer for the Kansas City Chiefs Football Team, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Kate has participated in numerous seminars and panel discussions focused on marketing and design. She has received several awards and recognition for her work, including a Hermes Creative Award – Platinum Winner “Corporate Website Category”, a Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) – First Place “Corporate Brochure Category”, and a Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) – Second Place Place “Book/Monograph Category”.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Graphic Design and Photography from the University of Kansas, and studied photography and design at the European School of Design in Milan, Italy. She is active in the community and has volunteered her time with Mass Fallen Heroes and as a mentor for Youth Design Boston.  She has also sat on local boards such as the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Professional Association of Design Boston Chapter and Youth Design Boston. Kate lives in the Boston area with her wife and 3 young boys.
